|Cody Chesnutt, live in Rome.|
This film is about one of the most amazing epiphanies i received in my life.
At the beginning of october 2017, while i was walking in the ancient heart of Rome, returning from a boring meeting with people of cinema, i suddenly looked up and immediately recognized an american musician whom i have always followed from afar.
It’s him, yes.
There could not be another human being so perfectly identical.
He is accompanied by a young italian who is his manager for the european tour.
Yes, it’s really Cody Chesnutt in flesh and blood.
What are you doing out for Rome?
If i had known about one of his official concerts, i would have immediately gone to buy his ticket.
I greet him instantly, with the slightest hesitation: Hi Cody, how are you?
And he, instantly too: I’m fine brother and you?
After only ten minutes of conversation in english, he had already told his manager that he wanted me as the guest of honor at that evening’s concert, the first of two exclusive shows in a tiny music club in Rome, with tickets already sold out for months.
It was just like that, in a moment i met one of the best american songwriters, and he claims that i will also attend the sound check of that evening, sitting on the edge of the stage, guest number one in his personal list.
I wanted to keep this film as my private memory but then – given the exaggerated and useless growth of festivals dedicated to the so-called “vertical cinema”, and in this era in wich even the big stars shoot their videos with the iPhone, – i understood that this is the perfect moment to make public my tribute to the precious and very rare musical talent of mister Cody Chesnutt.
